USA Archery Crowns Inaugural National 3-D Collegiate Champions

FOLEY, Alabama - USA Archery partnered with the Archery Shooters Association to host the first National 3-D Collegiate Championship this weekend.

Following yesterday's competition at 20 targets at unknown distances in the morning and another 20 targets in the afternoon and team rounds today archers were treated to special award ceremonies, fun filled events and a great time was had by all as the first National 3-D Collegiate Champions were crowned.

Steve Dietz, Head Coach of Hocking College Archery commented: "What a great event for the Collegiate 3-D shooters. This event will only grow to become bigger and better every year. My shooters had a great time and will be back."

Archery Shooters Association National Director Laval Dee Falks was also enthusiastic about the success of the event. He commented: "ASA is excited and proud to be partnering with USA Archery on these different events, especially on the 3-D side, because we are the most expert organization in the U.S. and the world in conducting 3-D archery tournaments. The tourism commission and sports council in Foley, Alabama is fully behind supporting this event and has welcomed us to return for future events."

Compound men's national champion Bradford Sauls agreed: "Mississippi College was very excited about coming to the first ever USA Archery 3-D Championship. I am very impressed at how smooth and efficient the tournament was run. The atmosphere throughout the entire tournament was unparalleled to other tournaments Mississippi College has attended. I am very proud of the performance of my teammates and we are very excited for future USA Archery events."

With nearly 100 archers from over a dozen schools competing at the first installation of this event, the compound men's bracket was the largest, and along with the barebow men's division, was one of the most competitive. Archers were able to compete in men's and women's classes for barebow, compound, recurve and bowhunter divisions following 2017 ASA Pro/Am rules. For information on the event, click here.
