STRASSEN, Luxembourg – The GT Open – the second stop on the Indoor World Series circuit - brought silver to the archer soon to be pulling on the jersey for the United States, Stephan Hansen.
Hansen is part of the United States Archery Team (USAT) for 2026 in the compound men’s division and will compete in the Archery World Cup stages alongside the likes of James Lutz, Louis Price and Sawyer Sullivan.
The 30-year-old was in Luxembourg this past weekend as the 2026 Indoor Archery World Series picked up pace with the second of seven events.
He took silver in compound men after a shoot-off loss to Kushal Dulal (IND). Both archers had finished with 148. A shoot-off victory in the semifinals secured a shot at gold for Hansen. He got the better of Mathias Fullerton after both fired perfect 150s.
Elsewhere, Gaius Carter took joint fifth, with Braden Gellenthien and Lutz finishing ninth.
Casey Kaufhold narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in recurve women. She was the model of consistency in her semifinal, firing five rounds of 29, only to be edged 6-4 by eventual gold medalist Elia Canales (ESP). She lost by the same scoreline in the bronze medal match to Fleur Van De Ven (NED).
It was a similar story for Nicholas D’Amour, who took ninth in recurve men. Despite hitting 29 on every end, he went out at the 1/8 stage to Karsten Stichler (GER) 6-4.
The Indoor Archery World Series moves on to Asia for the third event, with the Taipei Archery Open taking place the first week of December.
