USA Archery Kicks Off Final USAT Event of 2018 with Buckeye Classic

DUBLIN, Ohio - USA Archery returns to Dublin this week for the final United States Archery Team (USAT) Qualifier Series Event. The 134th U.S. National Target Championships, held on the same fields just days ago, garnered athletes valuable National Ranking Points, and the Buckeye Classic will wrap the season with final point tallies to name the 2019 United States Archery Team.

Last week was a big week in archery, with the first ever World Archery Masters Championships, a truly exceptional display of the competitive spirit of lifelong participants in the sport, and the Pan American Championships, where USA earned the maximum quota slots for the 2019 Pan American Games and took home an incredible amount of shiny hardware.

The Buckeye Classic will follow the National Target Championships as the second stage of the U.S. Team Trials for the 2019 World Archery Championships and Pan American Games for eligible participants. For recurve archers, those two prestigious international events will be USA's best opportunities to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and for compound archers, debut inclusion at the continental Games is a big step towards inclusion in future Olympic programs.

There is a lot on the line this week with such high stakes and a record-breaking more than 450 archers will take to the field in heated competition. Archers will qualify over two sessions Saturday, and head to head eliminations Sunday will determine top honors.

Tournament Director Chris Worthen is excited to welcome all archers, parents, coaches, volunteers and vendors to this exciting end-of-season event: "We are thrilled to welcome you all to Dublin, Ohio. Putting together this tournament was a group effort and we are so grateful for the community support, ACE Archers, and our volunteers. We are looking forward to a spectacular event and hope you all enjoy the 2018 Buckeye Classic! Please be sure to join us for the welcome social at the Embassy Suites Dublin tonight from 6:30-8:00pm for free food and drinks."
