Fourth Quarter USA Archery Virtual Tournament Gives Back

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery's Virtual Tournament series challenged archers to give back to their local communities during this past holiday season. The Virtual Tournament, which is a great learning and growing experience for archers to compete against others around the nation without leaving their range, runs four times each year. For the final event of 2017, USA Archery also posed a challenge for clubs to bring the spirit of giving back into their shoots. For one randomly selected club that participated in the challenge, USA Archery donated an additional $250 to their chosen cause.

Clubs across the country hosted food drives, toy drives, fundraisers and other creative events tied into the Virtual Tournament for causes that mattered to the archers and their communities.

Selected at random, the SIAD Mavericks of Southern Interstate Archery Development (Spartanburg, South Carolina) chose to honor First Responders. They collected donations for the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Department. To support the officers in their duties, the archers collected blankets and small stuffed animals to be kept in the trunks of patrol cars and distributed to adults and children in traumatic situations and in interactions with the homeless. To support the officers directly, the archers also collected snacks to donate to the officers who often are unable to take meal breaks throughout the day. The donations were gratefully accepted.

USA Archery thanks all the clubs who participated in the challenge and found ways to contribute to their local communities. We gain so much from having an archery family both in our local communities and nationwide. The clubs that participate in the Virtual Tournament help us grow and strengthen that nationwide community, and we at USA Archery appreciate those continued efforts.

The results for the most recent Virtual Tournament can be found here. The first event for 2018 is now open and will run through April 15, 2018. To register your club to participate, click here.
