American Camp Association Announces Educational Alliance With USA Archery

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 28, 2014) - The American Camp Association (ACA) and USA Archery have inked an agreement to create an educational alliance, with the goal of enhancing the quality and availability of camp archery programming nationwide. As part of the agreement, ACA and USA Archery will work together to promote archery-related professional development opportunities for camp professionals.

The ACA, with over 9,000 camp professionals as members, works to preserve, promote, and improve the camp experience. USA Archery, as the National Governing Body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of archery, is focused on growing the sport of archery across the United States through grassroots programming, instructor certification, and events, as well as offering equipment specific to the needs of camps and other archery programs.

"USA Archery is excited to partner with the American Camp Association," commented Denise Parker, USA Archery CEO. "This educational alliance gives us a key opportunity to introduce archery programming options to camp professionals nationwide."

With the launch of USA Archery's new Explore Archery program, and certification options for instructors and coaches, both organizations will work together to enhance archery programming opportunities for camps nationwide.

"ACA camps are dedicated to quality programming, and this educational alliance with help ensure that camp professionals have access to excellent resources for this popular camp activity," said Peg Smith, ACA's chief executive officer.

"Camp is an ideal location for archery programs, and many young people try archery for the first time at camp," noted Mary Emmons, USA Archery Outreach Director. "Explore Archery and our instructor certification options will help camps to safely add variety and fun to their archery programming."

The ACA currently accredits over 2,400 camps, which are required to meet up to 280 standards for health, safety, and program quality. ACA also works closely with other youth-serving organizations and associations.
