USA Archery Releases Athlete Development Model

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery is excited to announce the release of the USA Archery Athlete Development Model (ADM). The ADM was developed as a guide for long-term athlete development and aims to provide athletes, parents and coaches with the most up-to-date information regarding healthy, effective athlete development that will put athletes on the best path to success.

“As the National Governing Body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of archery in the United States, USA Archery recognizes the responsibility to develop athletes through physically, psychologically and emotionally healthy means so they can participate and enjoy the sport for a lifetime,” commented Mary Emmons, Chief of Sport Performance and Organizational Development. “USA Archery has created this model of development that will provide the best opportunity for success for our athletes while keeping them involved in the sport for as long as possible.”

USA Archery’s ADM provides a road map for athletes, parents, coaches and administrators to participate and lead athletes with long-term development in mind. USA Archery’s model takes into consideration training levels, coaching focus, biomechanics, motor learning, sport psychology and physical training levels for athletes on a full spectrum of age ranges. The goal of the USA Archery ADM is to develop healthy, successful athletes, improve retention, enhance participation and guide physical training and conditioning. USA Archery also believes that the ADM promotes psychologically appropriate development guidelines and athlete well-being.

The USA Archery ADM provides important information on athlete development at various ages and stages of development. The ADM also provides sample training session plans for different age groups and athletes with different long-term goals.
