Tom Green Recognized With World Archery Judge Outstanding Service Award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery is proud to recognize a longstanding and well-respected judge in our community. Tom Green recently received the World Archery Judge Outstanding Service Award for his international judge work. Green is retiring from working as a World Archery Judge after years of service and dedication to the sport of archery.

USA Archery CEO Denise Parker shared her appreciation: "In addition to his international judge duties, Tom has been the Judge representative on the USA Archery Board of Directors for the past 8 years. We all owe a lot of gratitude toward Tom for his tireless efforts to represent and improve Judges not only in the U.S. but across the world."

National Events Manager Sheri Rhodes commends Green on his efforts: "Tom has been a huge part of USA Archery's judging community and programs for many years.  He is a substantial resource for any judge with a question about the application or interpretation of the rules.  He is an example to all of us who judge on how to apply the rules with common sense and equity."

Green became a USA Archery Judge decades ago and has been a major asset ever since: "I became a Judge for several reasons. I was an archer and saw a need for Judges in my State since pretty much only one person was doing everything.  The other Judges I met across the nation [at that time] were quite elderly and really did not have that much enthusiasm for judging. What really got me motivated was in 1983 I met some wonderful Judges at the World Championships."

Green's favorite part of being an international judge is getting to experience many parts of the world: "I have had many great experiences as a Judge.  Getting to travel all over the world - I love to travel, getting a chance to go to places in the World that I never imagined I would ever go to and meeting people that I now consider my best friends."

As an example to other judges in the U.S. and around the world, Green offered: "My advice to other Judges is to get involved as much as you can manage.  Always look to work tournaments and foremost stay current on the rules.  It can take you to places and meet people you never would have considered."

USA Archery greatly appreciates the efforts of our judges, who make it possible for us to have events run smoothly and with integrity.
