The field of participants is getting increasingly stronger at the Arizona Cup with top archers coming from Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Mexico, Norway and the USA. The biographies of the medalists show that they have already had many accomplishments on the World Cup circuit or the Olympic Games.

In Recurve Men, the local hero American ELLISON claimed another victory in his early career. He beat Baar NESTENG (NOR) in the final, while two very experienced Olympians were battling for bronze. Vic WUNDERLE (USA) had the upper hand this time over Richard "Butch" JOHNSON (USA).

In Recurve Women, BEAUDET defeated the American archers on their home soil. Jennifer NICHOLS took 2nd place ahead of Khatuna LORIG and her sister Amanda NICHOLS.

In Compound Men, BINGER (USA) had a somewhat surprising win and proved once again the strong field of compound archers in this part of the world. BINGER beat Liam GRIMWOOD (GBR) in the final, 115-114. Other Americans followed. Rodger WILLET won over Dave COUSINS for bronze 118-116, while Braden GELLENTHIEN and Logan WILDE ranked 5th and 6th.

In Compound Women, recent World Cup winner in Santo Domingo, LORENTI defeated again the 2008 World Cup Final winner, Jamie VAN NATTA (USA). The final ended tied at 115-115, but LORENTY scored a 10 in the shoot-off, compared to VAN NATTA's 9. Nichola SIMPSONS (GBR) took bronze, ahead of four more well-known American archers, Diane JOHNSTON, Kendal NICELY, Diane WATSON and Erika ANSCHUTZ.
