Update: June Board of Directors Meeting

The USA Archery Board of Directors met in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 18th. The Board reviewed the annual Audit performed by Waugh & Goodwin, LLP, and USA Archery had a good review. As a follow-up to the Audit, the Board also approved new financial policies and procedures, a travel policy, and a whistle blower policy.

The 2012 National Events Schedule was approved, with firm dates for Arizona Cup still pending. We are in the process of confirming final details with event hosts, and expect to release 2012 event dates within the coming month. Included in this schedule, the Board approved a proposal presented by the JOAD Committee to combine the U.S. National Target Championships with JOAD Nationals.

The JOAD Committee presented the proposal and outlined the many benefits they felt the combined event would have for USA Archery, including the reduction in cost for youth athletes and parents, and the increase in prestige that the combined event would have. The staff will be working with the JOAD Committee to prepare a detailed agenda and program to be presented to the Board at the next meeting.

The Board also approved the Team Selection Procedures for the 2012 World Archery Indoor Championships and 2012 World Field Archery Championships. Click here to view the Team Selection Procedures.

The Board reviewed and passed a proposal by Coach Development Manager Sheri Rhodes that will change the Basic, Intermediate, Community, Regional and Elite coach levels back to the former numbering system. USA Archery will go back to having Level 1-Level 5 Coaches with an honorary Masters Coach title. Slight modifications were made to the program requirements and a Level 2 - Instructor Trainer and Level 3 - Coach Trainer were added.

The new levels will go into affect with all 2012 renewals. This change back to numbered levels also allows those past level 3 and level 4 coaches whose certifications are set to expire at the end of 2011, to transition back into the system.
