LeBre Named 2018 National Collegiate Coach of the Year

NEWBERRY, Florida - USA Archery is proud to announce that Brandeis University's Coach E.G. LeBre has been named the 2018 USA Archery Collegiate Archery Program Coach of the Year! Coach E.G. was selected from the 2018 Regional Coaches of the Year, including Glen Bennett (North Region) and Sandra Childress (West Region).

Coach E.G. was recognized at the 2018 U.S. National Outdoor Collegiate Championships awards banquet for his tireless efforts to grow the sport of archery at the college level.

In his nomination, Coach E.G.'s students shared: "Coach has consistently been the driving force behind the success of the Brandeis Archery Team. Over his 10 years as head coach of our collegiate program, he has been present in all aspects of the team such as fostering new talent, helping to manage tournament affairs, and establishing connections with other local teams. During both practice and tournament settings, E.G. is sure to give careful attention to all of his archers whether it be technical advice or just motivation to keep going."

E.G. LeBre is a Level 4-NTS coach and in addition to Brandeis, serves as a coach for Wellesley, MIT and Olin, and works with the U.S. Para archery team at the national and international level. LeBre also serves on USA Archery's Collegiate Archery Program Committee and is the Grassroots (non-JOAD) representative on USA Archery's Board of Directors.

On winning this award, LeBre first thanked all the archers and the other coaches in the program, sharing that he has learned from so many of them and hopes he has been able to help them learn and grow as well. He commented: "It's an honor and I'm very humbled by the whole thing. Being also now on the Board of Directors and being able to represent collegiate archery to the Board and make them more aware of what we're doing has been very interesting. I'm suddenly grasping the import of where I am. The decisions we're making are very significant and I can't just speak for my program, I have to look at what's best for the whole collegiate community. I hope this award also brings a little more recognition to college archery."

Earlier this year, Collegiate Archery Program clubs and teams submitted nominations for Regional Coaches of the Year. Each club was eligible to submit one vote for the coaches in their respective region. Regional Coach of the Year winners were named as finalists for the National Coach of the Year Award. Each club or team was then eligible to submit one vote for the National Coach of the Year.

We share our sincerest congratulations with E.G. LeBre on the National Collegiate Coach of the Year Award. USA Archery CEO Rod Menzer commented: "E.G. is extremely dedicated to the collegiate archery program and we are incredibly grateful for his continued efforts to lift up and build his archers, teams and collegiate archery as a whole. His contributions have made a great impact on the sport and we are happy to see archers nationwide celebrate him for his work."
