Urgent Weather Update for Outdoor Nationals

DECATUR, Alabama - With lightning in the area since early this morning, tournament organizers continue to have concerns that this line of ongoing storms will produce lightning, and the safety of archers and event participants is the paramount concern.

In order to balance safety, the needs of all divisions scheduled to shoot today, and the desire to get in as many arrows as possible, we will attempt to shoot if weather conditions improve.

The tournament organizers have set a hard stop time for the "morning line" - recurve women, compound men and barebow women - of 4:00 pm CDT. The "afternoon line" - recurve men, compound women, and barebow men - weather permitting, will have a start time of 4:30 pm and a hard stop time of 9:00 pm CDT tonight, as we will have the availability of lights on the field.

Weather permitting, we will shoot as many ends as safely possible within these time frames. By the hard stop time for each line, the U.S. National Target Championships results will be finalized based on the arrows shot at that point. Likewise, the qualification round for the Easton JOAD Nationals will be finalized based on the arrows shot by our determined stop time for each line.

Qualification rounds will not be extended past today, and the competition will continue as scheduled, weather permitting, throughout the weekend.

Continued weather updates will be available on the Outdoor Nationals event page, or on USA Archery's Facebook and Twitter. We will continue to post news as it becomes available. We thank all event participants for their continued patience.
