Save the date for USA Archery Coaches Workshop and keep an eye out for Virtual Symposium

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Mark your calendars, the 2024 USA Archery Coaches Workshop is headed back to Colorado Springs.

Taking place September 21-22, this event is a can’t miss opportunity for coaches looking to take their skills to the next level.

The Coaches Workshop focuses on developing coaches’ skills through deliberate practice, micro-coaching sessions, and feedback. This workshop has been carefully redesigned to benefit coaches who have attended before and also those who have not attended any of the previous Coaches Workshops.

The goal of these sessions is that each coach will leave the workshop as a better coach than when they arrived. Practice and participation will be a critical element of this workshop and USA Archery will provide a safe place for coaches to learn and grow.

The workshop will focus on developing the following skills:

  • Providing different types of feedback and coaching
  • How to Coach Skills
  • Technical Analysis
  • Cueing
  • Planning Training
  • Designing fun, challenging, and engaging training activities
  • Creating a community of practice for coaches

Guy Krueger, USA Archery Director of Education, commented “I am really excited about this year’s symposium. If I had to sum it up into one thought, it’s IMPACTFUL. We have some amazing presenters lined up and I know that it’s going to have a tremendous impact on coaches and archers of all levels!”

Two of these presenters include:

  • Rob Gray, who holds a Ph. D. in Experimental Psychology, and works with Boston Red Sox as  a Skill Acquisition Specialist, as well as serving as an Associate Professor of Human Systems Engineering at Arizona State University, and host of the Perception & Action Podcast.

  • Pete Kadushin who, with over 10 years of experience in the field of sport and performance psychology, has had the privilege of working with a wide variety of performers, including everyone from youth to D1 athletes, tactical populations, weight management clients, and athletes returning from injury. Dr Kadushin’s work also includes time with the Chicago Blackhawks (NHL).

Registration details for both of these great events will be posted soon and sent out to members, instructors and coaches.
