Trenton Cowles has won the recurve men’s division the past two years at the Darree Soccer Fields north of Columbus, but he is part of the USA team at the World University Games in Germany and so misses out on three in a row. He has also won the two most recent USAT Qualifier Series events, the Easton Foundations Gator Cup and Easton Foundations SoCal Showdown. Local archer Jordan Graham was filled with emotion on winning barebow men in 2023. He repeated the feat in 2024.

Though Cowles and his World University Games teammates will be absent, there will be a whole host of archers seeking to add to their USAT medal haul from 2025.

Alex Zuleta-Visser took silver at Gator Cup and SoCal Showdown in recurve women. She will be hoping it is third time the charm in Dublin, but she will face competition from Gabrielle Sasai – the gold medalist at the AAE Arizona Cup – as well as Casey Kaufhold and Olivia Martin, bronze medal winners at Gator Cup and SoCal Showdown respectively.

Sharon Totton has medaled at all three of the year’s USAT events so far, taking gold at Arizona Cup, bronze at Gator Cup and silver at SoCal Showdown in compound 50+ women. Alanna Dunaway beat her to gold in Chula Vista last weekend and will be in Ohio next month.

Alexis Ruiz has taken bronze and silver from the last two USATs. Paige Pearce began the USAT Qualifier Series with gold at Arizona Cup, where young talent Kaylee Gurney finished with bronze having topped qualification; three names who will be in the mix in the compound women’s division at Buckeye.

The name Gildenhuys is rarely far from the podium in barebow 50+. The husband and wife of Johannes and Samantha will be at the Buckeye Classic. Johannes has been the silver medalist in all three USATs this year.

Barbara Carroll has won both USAT events she has competed at this year – Arizona Cup and SoCal Showdown – in barebow 50+ women. Gator Cup was claimed by Melissa McAvoy. Both will be at the USAT finale.

Janis Grellner, Jamie McCarrison and Tsolmon Khenmedekh were the three archers on the podium for recurve 50+ women at Gator Cup. They are already registered and raring to go for the Buckeye Classic.

The Gator Cup gold medalist in compound 50+ men, George Ryals IV, is another one to watch in the Buckeye State. He also left Arizona Cup with bronze.

Jamie DiGiacomo won gold at Arizona Cup and silver at Gator Cup in barebow U18 women and will feature in the fourth USAT instalment. Aarya Arun will be eager to take his gold medal-winning form from SoCal into Buckeye in recurve U18 men, as will Olivia Chang in recurve U21 women. Isabella Kim has two silvers in that division and is set to appear.

Tj Kole has a gold and silver to his name in barebow U18 men, while Elyse Matus claimed silver at SoCal in compound U21 women. And you can expect Caleb Quiocho to be a contender for a medal in compound U18 men. He has two golds and a silver to his name thus far in the USAT Qualifier Series, and will be one of a number seeking to end on a high.
