Super start to the year as archers turn out in their thousands for indoor events

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – If the first month of 2024 is any indication, then USA Archery could be in for a banner year as dozens of USA Archery sanctioned local, regional and state events attracted thousands of archers.

In January alone, events stretched from Alaska to Florida and welcomed more than 4,400 athletes! Between the 55th USA Archery Indoor Nationals in Florida and New Mexico on the first weekend of the month, to the 2024 USA Archery Nevada State and JOAD Indoor Championships on January 31, the year got off to a flying start.

“It is tremendous to see so many archers involved at our events,” said USA Archery CEO, Rod Menzer. “From experienced archers to new faces enjoying their first competition experience, we can’t wait to continue to build the archery community as 2024 unfolds.

"We are grateful to our event hosts for bringing so many tournament opportunities to archers nationwide and thank the club leaders, coaches, judges, parents and everyone who works so hard to make this happen. We’re looking forward to an awesome year of archery."

There were events far and wide, including Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Virginia.

The 2024 California State Indoor Target Archery Championships enjoyed the highest attendance, with 613 competing over three days.

Indoor competition continues throughout February, culminating with the USA Archery Indoor Nationals Final in Louisville, Ky. on March 14 with a total prize purse of over $65,000. Find your next event on the USA Archery events calendar and learn more in the 2024 Event Magazine.
