OWENSBORO, Ky. – The energy of the USA Archery Indoor Nationals and JOAD Indoor Nationals continues to build as nearly 500 archers converge on the Owensboro Convention Center this weekend for the latest stop.
Now well underway after opening in Arizona and making headline-grabbing stops on the West Coast, the 2026 Indoor Nationals and JOAD Indoor Nationals have already delivered breakout performances. Owensboro is next in line to add its own chapter to a season defined by depth, diversity and high-level competition across all ages and divisions.
Collegiate archers will be out in force, with student-athletes representing a wide range of nearby and nationally recognized programs, including:
Several proven medal contenders are set to take the shooting line. Reigning Collegiate Target Nationals barebow champion Kyle Coffey will compete on home turf as part of Union Commonwealth College’s contingent. The University of the Cumberlands will be represented by compound women’s silver medalist Lanie Nish from the 2025 Collegiate Target Nationals, along with teammate Jackson Ratajczak, who earned bronze in fixed pins men last year.
Lindsey Wilson College brings a 26-strong squad from Columbia, Ky., highlighted by barebow archers Keegan Benton and Sarah McCarthy, who teamed up for mixed team bronze at the Collegiate 3D Nationals this past October.
Beyond the collegiate ranks, club participation will be equally strong. JOAD competition features a large presence from 88 Archery Academy, which is traveling with nearly 20 athletes from Georgia, while the Junior Olympian Archery Club of Louisville will showcase multiple sibling pairs, including Elena and Landon Bell, as well as Reagan and Kinley van Dy.
Nine-year-old Elena will be the youngest competitor in Kentucky, while 76-year-old Tony Montgomery highlights the other end of the age spectrum - underscoring the lifelong appeal of the sport.
The Owensboro event marks another key stop in a sweeping Indoor Nationals schedule that spans 18 events across 16 locations, culminating in final competitions in Mississippi, Michigan and Virginia on March 1. With early stops setting a high bar for performance and participation, all signs point to another memorable weekend as archers take aim in western Kentucky.
There will not be a USA Archery Indoor Final in 2026, but rather prize money will be distributed based on the final combined results from all Indoor Nationals locations for each gender and division (bow type). Previously, prize money has been for those in the top six. For 2026, there will be prize money for the top 10.
Archers will still receive medals for the National Championship titles by division but will have additional opportunity to earn prize money as well.
