New names, new scores, new leaders as Owensboro rewrites the Indoor Nationals narrative

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Compound finals rankings have a very different look about them after the latest event in the 2026 USA Archery Indoor Nationals, which took place at the Owensboro Convention Center this past weekend.

There will not be a USA Archery Indoor Nationals Final in 2026, but rather prize money will be distributed based on the final combined results from all Indoor Nationals locations for each gender and division (bow type). Previously, prize money has been for those in the top six. For 2026, there will be prize money for the top 10.

Archers will still receive medals for the National Championship titles by division but will have additional opportunity to earn prize money as well.

Among the many highlights in Owensboro was the score of 1187 from 13-year-old Boston Shelley in fixed pins U15 men. Pending verification, this would be a new national record, with the previous best being 1153. His total would have placed him second in U18 – one point behind Brayden Craft – and fourth in U21 men. Shelley leads fixed pins U15 men nationally by 146 points.

Kenneth Brunko had held top spot in compound (finals rankings) since the opening weekend in Arizona with a score of 1168. Owensboro was the fourth stop out of 18, with previous locations also including California and Washington ... and 14 archers scored higher!

Dillon Thompson is the new pacesetter, scoring 1189, followed by Isaac Sullivan and Lawson Veit on 1186.

Alexis Ruiz still tops the scores in compound women, but Toja Ellison has been pushed from second to seventh after five archers – separated by three points – had their say in Kentucky. Ruiz, whose score of 1183 was achieved in her home state of Arizona, is now followed by Jamilee Moore, Rachel Flack (both 1169), Madison Cox (1168), Lanie Nish (1167) and Gracen Fletcher (1166).

There are a few new names among the finals frontrunners in the recurve division. Christopher Sprain sits sixth in recurve men, having shot 1120 in Owensboro in the recurve U18 category. Minhyuk Song took second in recurve U18, with 1117, which is currently enough for ninth overall, while Ashton Probus lies 10th after scoring the same as Song but with fewer 10s.

Ava Jones (pictured) is placed in both recurve women and barebow women. The 17-year-old talent from Kentucky topped both disciplines in Owensboro. Her recurve score of 1113 is enough for second in the senior division and fifth place in the finals rankings. The 1087 shot in barebow women puts her first in that category.

Jones is joined in the recurve women finals rankings top 10 by Yeshaswini Tati (6th, 1112), Krishni Palaniappan (7th, 1112) and Catherine Wilson (10th, 1102).

Including Jones, six archers now find themselves inside the top 10 in barebow women, among them Grace Schnitkey (4th), McKenna Smith (6th), Michaela McDonald (8th), Kennedy Sumpter (9th) and Bekah Follette (10th).

Jeff Ogilvie registered the best barebow men score of the weekend. Shooting in the 50+ division, Ogilvie managed 1045 to sit fifth in the finals rankings. Kyle Coffey managed 1042 in Kentucky, which is currently good enough for sixth across all age classes. Chase White and Scott Bowman are nestled inside the top 10 after their showing in Owensboro.

In the USA Archery JOAD Target Nationals, Yeshaswini Tati’s score of 564 puts her third overall in recurve U21 women. Christopher Sprain’s total of 568 is enough for third nationally in recurve U18 men. Justin Yoon is the new name to chase in recurve U15 men, while Daon Park now sits second in recurve U15 women. Doyoon Ko has taken over the silver medal position in recurve U13 men after shooting 519 in Owensboro.

Kade Weidenbenner registered the second-best score nationally in compound U21 men, one point behind current leader Mikie Kolb (574). Kentucky produced the new first and third best scores in both compound U18 men and U18 women, courtesy of Jayden Goosman, Jaiden Rodrigues, Klayre Smith and Molly McClure.

Mattingly Walker now occupies second in compound U15 women, Jay Bryant likewise in compound U13 men, while Clara Hawkins and Destiny Rodrigues are the early contenders in compound U13 women.

Ellie Howe, who shot in Chula Vista mid-January, still heads barebow U21 women, but is now followed by Reagan van Dy and DJ Spurr.

There is a new top three in barebow U18 men after action in Owensboro, as Tavish Pathak, Adam Parker and Carter Guillaume now occupy the medal positions. In barebow U18 women, silver and bronze placings are now held by Carly Schollmeyer and Lucy Matuszak.

Ori Baker has replaced Harper Blaylock in the chase for gold in barebow U15 women. C. Harrison Lewis lies second in barebow U13 men, with Suzie Wilson occupying the same in barebow U13 women.

It is still early days in the fixed pins U21 classes, though Benjamin Corey and James Waldron now occupy first and second in U18 men. There is a new 1-2-3 in U18 women, as Carolina DeChambeau, Nyla McIntosh and Lydia Henry shot to the top with their performances in Kentucky.

All could change once again this coming weekend, as Indoor Nationals and JOAD Indoor Nationals continue in Florida, California, Texas, Utah, South Dakota and New Jersey.
