GWANGJU, Korea – Greg Easton has been elected as the new President of World Archery at the governing body’s annual congress, which is taking place in Korea ahead of the World Archery Championships.
“I am deeply honored by the trust placed in me to serve as President of World Archery,” said Greg Easton. “This is not a victory for one person, but for our entire archery family. Together, we will strengthen our sport, support our federations, and inspire the next generation of archers.
“My commitment is to listen, to serve, and to work tirelessly so that we move forward, together and on point. Thank you.”
Mr. Easton becomes only the 10th person to hold the position since World Archery was founded in 1931, succeeding Prof. Dr. Ugur Erdener (TUR). Dr. Erdener had been in the role since 2005. He succeeded Greg’s late father, Jim, who was President for 16 years.
“On behalf of USA Archery, I congratulate Greg Easton on his election as President of World Archery,” added USA Archery CEO, Rod Menzer. “Greg’s deep passion for our sport and lifelong commitment to its growth will serve the global archery community well.
“We look forward to seeing the positive impact of his leadership on the continued development and visibility of archery worldwide.”
The new President of World Archery is the CEO & Chairman of the Board which oversees Easton Archery and Hoyt Archery based in Salt Lake City, UT. His vision is to ‘lead World Archery into its next era as a responsive, transparent, and deeply collaborative federation that reflects the diversity, energy, and aspirations of its global community, while advancing Olympic relevance, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.’
Elsewhere, Mark Miller - previously an Executive Board Member - was elected to one of the two vacant positions of Vice President of World Archery. Curtis Balusek then became one of two elected to the Field and 3D Archery Committee, before Doug Denton and Robert Pian were re-elected to the Technical Committee and Target Archery Committee respectively.
The World Archery Championships run from September 5-12. You can follow the fortunes of the USA team here.
