COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Almost 500 archers will line up at the 2025 HotelPlanner USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals later this month, including World Cup, World Field and World Youth medalists, as well as Olympians.
In partnership with the Lansing Sports Commission, the Collegiate Target Nationals will be hosted by Michigan State University. When the event was last held in the Great Lakes State, just shy of 300 student-athletes took part. Nine years on, and that number has climbed significantly.
Texas A&M University (TAMU) were winners of the Overall National Team Championship in 2024, followed by 2023 winners the University of the Cumberlands, with the University of Pikeville finishing third.
TAMU’s team will include Olympian Catalina GNoriega, plus World Cup archers Trenton Cowles, Carson Krahe and Sawyer Sullivan. Cumberlands have Landyn Cox and Isaac Sullivan, who are teammates of their TAMU rivals in China next week for the Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 2.
Individual champions set to return in 2025 are Alyssa Artz, Sawyer Sullivan, Venugopal Kunnavakkam and Kimber Wheeler. Kunnavakkam was switched from recurve to barebow just weeks before last year’s event and went on to shoot a collegiate national record during qualification, beating the previous high by 17 points!
The 2025 World University Games U.S. Team Trials will be held in conjunction with the 2025 Collegiate Target Nationals, as part of the 72-arrow qualification round. The World University Games take place in Germany from July 16-27.
Registration remains open for a whole host of upcoming outdoor events on the USA Archery calendar.
The 2025 USA Archery Field Nationals returns to the scenic and challenging Koteewi Archery Range in Noblesville, Ind. Competition runs from June 13-15, with the USA’s most successful Olympic archer, Brady Ellison, among those already registered.
As one young archer was heard to say during the Easton Foundations Gator Cup, “Last year was my first Field Nationals and I can’t believe how much fun it was. I loved it.”
Deadline to register for Field Nationals is May 31.
