2011 United States Archery Team Announced

Following a season fraught with excitement and close competition, USA Archery is pleased to announce the members of the 2011 Senior, Para and Junior United States Archery Teams (USAT). The Senior USAT, established in 1982, consists of the top eight male and female recurve and compound archers in the Senior division, who are ranked according to USAT Qualification Procedures.

The Para USAT officially joined USA Archery on January 1, 2010.  Classifications for Para Archery include W1, W2, Standing, and Open Compound for men, and W1/W2 (combined), Standing, and Open Compound for women. The Junior USAT consists of the top five male and female recurve and compound archers in the Junior and Cadet Divisions, all of whom are ranked according to Junior USAT Qualification Procedures.

"USA Archery would like to congratulate all those who made their respective U.S. Archery Teams," stated Denise Parker, CEO of USA Archery. "It is truly a great achievement to reach this level of expertise in your sport and you should be proud. We wish you the very best as you represent USA Archery in the coming year."

Athletes selected to the 2011 team were required to meet specific qualifying standards, including participation in a minimum of three events. For archers in the Senior division, the average placement at U.S. National Target Championships and the U.S. Open was used for ranking, as well as the next two best placements in the eight qualifying tournaments this year.

In the Junior division, archers utilized the same eight qualifying tournaments for their next two best placements; their primary USAT qualifying event in 2010 was the Easton JOAD National Championships and Junior U.S. Open, from which their average placement was used for ranking purposes. For the Para-Archery team, archers must shoot designated scores at Star FITA tournaments, based on the scores that are necessary for the archers to be internationally competitive.
