2025 Level 4 Coach Practical Course

Note: While the Level 4 Online Course is available year-round, the Level 4 Practical Course is only available at a specific time of year and is facilitated by USA Archery over Zoom. The deadline to register for the 2025 Level 4 Practical Course was September 22, 2025. Online courses are valid for 12-months.

The Level 4 Practical Course consists of four synchronous Zoom-based sessions per week (approximately 40-45 hrs) over 1.5 months. Space is limited.  Level 4 candidates interested in registering for the Level 4 Practical Course must first pass the Level 4 Online Course. 

The Level 4 Course supports the continued development of high-quality archery coaches in the USA and beyond. The course content, activities, and assessments are designed to increase a) participant understanding of the sport-specific technical details of the National Training System and b) ability to apply evidence-based how-to-coach skills to enhance skill acquisition and retention in athletes. While the course develops coaches capable of developing high performing athletes for national and international competition, the content is applicable from beginner through elite.

During this course, coaches will learn and demonstrate competency in the following areas:

• NTS Compound and NTS Recurve 
• Athlete-Centered Coaching Model 
• Situation Profile
• Skill Analysis
• Evidence-Based Practice
• Motor Learning Theory
• Crafting practice plans
• Reflection techniques

Level 4 Certification Eligibility

• 20 years of age or older by the time the Level 4 Practical Assessment is conducted.
• Must hold Level 3 certification for at least 8 months to be eligible to register for the Level 4 Practical course.
• Level 4 candidates who earned a Level 3 Certification prior to April 1, 2022, must register for and complete the current Level 3 Online Coach Course prior to registering for the Level 4 Online Course.
• Membership to USA Archery* or the National Field Archery Association (NFAA)
• USA Archery Background Screening
• U.S. Center for SafeSport Training
• Must complete the online modules for the course and pass the online exam
• Must pass a practical examination that assesses how-to-coach skills as well as technical knowledge, understanding, and application of National Training System

Certification Period

• Three years from the date the certification is awarded by USA Archery

The Level 4 Course Packet outlines everything you need to know about the Level 4 Practical Course, including information on how to access the Zoom-based practical sessions, attendance criteria, and more. 

Refund Policy

• Refunds requested prior to the start of the course will be provided for the registration fee minus any Stripe Processing fees. Refunds will not be provided after a course has been started.
