CHULA VISTA, Calif. / CHENEY, Wash. – Following an exciting opening weekend to the 2026 USA Archery Indoor Nationals and JOAD Indoor Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona, attention now shifts west for the next two stops on the national indoor calendar.
Chula Vista, California and Cheney, Washington will welcome archers from across the country as the tour continues its journey through 18 events in 16 locations, running from January 2 through March 1. Each stop provides archers the opportunity to compete for national titles, personal bests, and a place in the final combined national standings.
Chula Vista marks the first of three events scheduled at the venue this season, underlining its growing role as a hub for high-level archery on the West Coast. Cheney, meanwhile, makes its debut as one of two new host locations added for 2026 - alongside Phoenix - reflecting the continued expansion of the Indoor Nationals program and its reach across the country.
Among those seeing action at Indoor Nationals and JOAD Indoor Nationals this weekend are a number of 2025 USAT Qualifier Series medalists, among them Jack Chen, Alanna Dunaway, Kay Earls, Marianna Finkel, Mark Hainline, Ellie Howe, Roman and Elizaveta Kravchuk, Caleb Quiocho, Phyllis Shipman, Ashvika Singh, Binh Tran, Ye-eun Whang, Jack Williams and Alex Zuleta-Visser.
The season began in strong fashion in Arizona, where high-level performances across both USA Archery Indoor Nationals and JOAD Indoor Nationals set an early benchmark for the rest of the series.
Olympic medalist Brady Ellison (recurve senior men) delivered one of the standout performances of the weekend, becoming one of only two archers to land more than 100 of his 120 arrows in the 10-ring. He was joined in that elite group by Alexis Ruiz (compound senior women), who matched the feat in her division.
The next generation of talent was also on full display in the JOAD Indoor Nationals. Khloe Markel produced the top compound JOAD score of the opening weekend, posting an impressive 581 out of 600 in the compound U18 women’s division.
There will not be a 2026 USA Archery Indoor Final, but rather prize money will be distributed based on the final combined results from all indoor nationals locations for each gender and age class by category as in the past. So, archers will still receive medals for the National Championship titles by division but then will have additional opportunity to earn prize money as well.
With the tone set in Phoenix and momentum building, Chula Vista and Cheney now take center stage as archers continue their pursuit of national titles.
