USA Archery's High Performance Programs providing next generation of talent as 2026 USAT confirms

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – An indicator of both the strength, depth and growth of the United States Archery Team (USAT) is highlighted with the 2026 roster, which includes familiar faces, new names and those stepping up to a higher level.

It is also clear from the 2026 USAT that USA Archery’s High Performance Programs provide a development pathway, as seen by seven athletes named to the recurve senior division being in either the Resident Athlete Program based in Chula Vista, Calif., or National Elite Program in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Of those, Olivia Martin (pictured), Jennifer Mucino-Fernandez and Christian Stoddard made the top four. Martin and Mucino-Fernandez are ranked three and four in recurve women, with Stoddard at three in recurve men.

Mucino-Fernandez is an Olympian, having competed at the Paris Games last year. Stoddard made his debut on the senior USAT and World Cup team this year, while Martin has enjoyed a stand-out 2025, claiming recurve women bronze at both the Easton Foundations SoCal Showdown and Rebel Gear Buckeye Classic, and makes the senior USAT for the first time.

“When I arrived in the United States, Olivia Martin was a relative unknown, but she's made a name for herself on the team for next year,” commented Head Coach, Elias Cuesta.

“Her hard work, her work ethic, her respect for the coaches and her teammates have really impressed me and I'm very happy for her and very happy to have her on the team.

“And then there is Christian who, along with Josh Baek and Jack Krengel, managed to win a recurve U21 men’s gold for the USA at the World Youth Championship for the first time in 32 years. Christian then took the team silver medal at the (senior) World Championships alongside Trenton (Cowles) and Brady (Ellison).

“It has been a privilege to work with the athletes at Chula Vista and within the North Carolina program. Their dedication, professionalism, and daily pursuit of excellence are a reflection of the strength and future of USA Archery.

“In addition to the athletes, I would highlight Coach Chris Webster’s work at North Carolina. It's a new program, and he's managed to get three of the six athletes he has in his program onto next year’s senior USAT.”

On the compound side, Liko Arreola returns to the senior women's roster, making the top four for the first time, joining Alexis Ruiz, Olivia Dean and Paige Pearce.

Coach Cuesta added, “I've really enjoyed the women’s compound team, and both Olivia and Alexis have a guaranteed future. Having the vast experience of someone like Paige and another young talent in Liko gives me great hope for many medals.

Louis Price last made the USAT in 2023, though he did feature at World Cup Stage 4 in Madrid this year, as did Olivia Martin. Price is in the 2026 USAT as the third ranked archer in compound men, behind James Lutz and Stephan Hansen (pictured). Hansen – who won compound men gold at the Rebel Gear Buckeye Classic – has made a switch to represent the United States from his native Denmark. The top four compound men also includes Sawyer Sullivan.

“The men are also an excellent team," Cuesta commented. "And any one of them could have won the World Championships, as they are at such a high level. Having Stephan join Jimmy (Lutz), Louis and Sawyer makes for such an incredibly strong group.”

There are also 17 archers across the U15, U18 and U21 rosters who are from the Regional Elite Program. They are: Ori Baker, Kai Chen, Benjamin Corey, Brent Francis, Madeleine Han, Evie Hascup, Roman Kravchuk, Nathan Lee, Elliot Moreck, Audrey Overton, Delana Puryear, Raylie Seyler, Eliana Son, Derek Tang, Mattingly Walker, Joseph Woodrow Rosal and Jacob Zbacnik.

The U15 age class in barebow, compound, fixed pins and recurve is new for 2026. This aligns with World Archery, which determined at the 2023 Congress that the U15 age division be adopted as an official age class.

Among the other new names on the USAT for 2026 are Spanky Brooks, Gaius Carter, LeAnn Starr, Michelle O’Donnell, Stephen Wagner, Christopher Hall and Ryan Lindstrom (pictured), plus the husband and wife of Johannes and Samantha Gildenhuys.

Brooks had an outstanding season in barebow men, which included silver at the AAE Arizona Cup. Carter was bronze medalist in compound men at SoCal Showdown.

O’Donnell placed third at the Easton Foundations Gator Cup in barebow 50+ women, before winning Buckeye Classic. Barebow 50+ women also includes Samantha Gildenhuys, a bronze medalist at SoCal Showdown. Her husband, Johannes, made barebow 50+ men for 2026. He was a medalist at all four events in the USAT Qualifier Series in 2025, winning three silvers and one bronze.

Starr began the USAT Qualifier Series with gold at Arizona Cup in recurve 50+ women. And with gold at SoCal Showdown and silver at Arizona Cup, Stephen Wagner finds a place in compound 50+ men.

Lindstrom’s is quite the story. He only took up the sport seriously last December, having watched and been inspired by Jason Tabansky at the Paralympic Games in Paris. He has now made the USAT in the W1 men division, alongside Paralympic champion Tabansky. Hall joins an experienced compound men open group following a 2025 that included bronze at Arizona Cup.

Two archers are named in the recurve women open division. Karen Sternfeld makes the USAT for the first time and joins Candice Caesar, who also made the team two years ago.

Elsewhere, Marianna Finkel (pictured) and Jacquelyne Coleman return to compound 50+ women - for the first time since 2020 and 2021 respectively - while Thomas Stevenson is back among recurve 50+ men after a three-year absence.

And then there are those to have previously qualified for the USAT at U18 or U21 level whose names now sit in the senior division, notably Abigail Kippes, Ava Jones, Ellie Howe, Kaylee Gurney, Patrick Nielsen, Sachiko Keane and Sydney Sullenberger.

The 2023 USAT had the names of Sullenberger, Gurney, Akshara Vijay, Olivia Dean, Isaac Sullivan, Liko Arreola and Christian Stoddard as part of either the U18 or U21 rosters. All are now sitting proudly in the senior division of their respective discipline.

In being named to the USAT, archers earn the right to wear USA across their backs on a special team jersey and are provided discounts and products from generous USA Archery partners. In addition, eligible top ranked Senior and Para athletes receive stipends and other support from USA Archery and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

Athlete rankings also determine who is invited to represent the United States on the Archery World Cup circuit and at other major international such as Outdoor World Cups or Para Cup events. Eligible USAT athletes may also apply for Short-Term Training and other High Performance Programs.
