COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado -- USA Archery’s Achievement Award Program is designed to celebrate the accomplishments of archers of all ages and abilities as they progress in the sport from the most beginner to incredibly advanced levels of success. The JOAD Olympian and Adult Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards mark the highest of those achievements and USA Archery is proud to congratulate many archers on their achievements this past fall.
Level 4-NTS Coach Lee Hetletved, coach for North Central Elite Archers, alternate coach for the Regional Elite Development Program and International Team Staff for USA Archery, recently earned his gold adult achievement award for indoor compound. Hetletved shared: “The Gold Olympian is an important achievement for me personally and professionally. Personally, I met a goal I set. Professionally, I think it is imperative that coaches participate in the sport they coach. It is through participation that coaches stay more in touch with the mental vulnerability of competition as well as the physical ‘feels’ of form that we try to convey. I feel that I am better able to relate to those I coach because of the examples and analogies that I am able to offer to my archers through my own experiences. I would encourage adults and parents to consider participating in the adult achievement program--it will assist them in better supporting their youth. The lessons learned are so important. Our learning is our ‘becoming’, which is way more important than any one achievement.”
These awards are part of the USA Archery Achievement Program, which provides achievement award pins for progressive scoring achievements, and encourages youth and adult archers to accomplish goals in the sport of archery.
In addition to a certificate and pin, Bronze JOAD Olympian awards are recognized with a backpack, Silver JOAD Olympian awards are recognized with a lightweight jacket, and Gold JOAD Olympian awards are recognized with a belt buckle.
