Time to submit your nominations for the George Helwig JOAD Award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Archery is now accepting nominations for the George Helwig JOAD Award. This lifetime achievement award is presented to an individual who has shown continuous support of the Junior Olympic Archery Development program throughout their life.

Established in 1985, the USA Archery George Helwig JOAD Award is designed to recognize those individuals who have been instrumental in the promotion of the JOAD program, and is named after the inaugural recipient of the Junior Olympic Archery Development Award, who founded the program in 1960.

In addition to a lifetime of efforts to grow and support youth archery, Mr. Helwig participated in three Olympic Games, was active in World Archery for 31 years and was awarded numerous medals, honors, and awards, including the National Archery Association's (now USA Archery) Medal of Honor.

Nominees should demonstrate a lifelong contribution to the Junior Olympic Archery Development program. The deserving nominee has not only contributed to the betterment of an existing JOAD program but has aided in the creation of new JOAD programs and the overall growth of the sport of archery.

If you know someone who is deserving of this lifetime achievement awardsubmit your nomination to USA Archery at [email protected] by June 15, 2024. Clubs should coordinate with members to ensure only one application per nominee is submitted to USA Archery.

The USA Archery staff and JOAD Advisory Council will review all nominations and if a winner is selected, they will be honored at the 2024 USA Archery JOAD Target Nationals.
