USA Archery Wraps 2017 Indoor Nationals with Highest Participation in History

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - Over 4,500 archers competed nationwide over the last few weeks at USA Archery's 2017 JOAD National Indoor Championships and U.S. National Indoor Championships, making it by far, USA Archery's largest event in history. Spread out over 13 locations, archers' scores were compiled and the events culminated yesterday, finally crowning new Indoor National Champions.

Pending verification, several new national records were shot and even a new world record as the level of competition continues to rise in America. Brady Ellison's 1192 put him 13 points into first for the senior recurve men's division just ahead of 2016 U.S. Olympic Archery Teammates Jake Kaminski and Zach Garrett. In fourth was Paralympian Eric Bennett, scoring an 1173 shooting with just one arm.

Olympians Mackenzie Brown and Khatuna Lorig finished on top for the senior recurve women's division. Collegiate archer Eliana Clapps and cub archer Casey Kaufhold, scored the third and fourth highest scores of any recurve women in the competition with an incredible 1144 and 1135 respectively.

World Field Champion Steve Anderson capped an impressive indoor season with an 1189 to top the compound senior men's division. Jacob Pettit was the leading scorer for the compound junior men with an 1187, while Eli Hughes' 1184 put him on top of the compound cadet men's division further showing that talent in USA archers knows no age restrictions.

Erika Jones is back on top of the compound women's division, scoring an 1179 to earn the National Champion title. Michelle O'Donnell took gold for the crossbow senior women with an 1181, while Tom Holland's 1188 was the best score for the crossbow senior men's division.

John Demmer III continues to lead the barebow senior men in the U.S. with an 1103 win. Fawn Girard won the barebow senior women's competition with a 1036 while Jennifer Stoner scored a 1044 to take the win for the barebow masters women.

USA Archery congratulates all of our Indoor Nationals participants and medalists on an incredible few weekends of archery and an awesome indoor season. We look forward to seeing everyone in the outdoor season!
