USA Archery Opens Registration for Texas Shootout and US Olympic Team Trials

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - If you're thinking of trying out for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Archery Team, now's your chance: registration is open for the Texas Shootout, and the first stage of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Archery.

Click here to register now.  Important: There is an additional fee for recurve archers who want to participate in the Trials. Registration for both events must be completed in advance, by the registration deadline.

The Texas Shootout, a United States Archery Team (USAT) Qualifier Series Event, will take place at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, on September 3, 4 and 5.

The first stage of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Archery will be held at the same location, on September 6 and 7. The Olympic Team Trials are a three-stage event process, and the September event is the first of those three events. The second two events will be held in 2016.

Archers hoping to compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials are strongly encouraged to read the Athlete Selection Procedures for the 2016 Olympic Games. The Selection Procedures explain the team selection process in detail. 

The top 16 recurve women and top 16 recurve men from the Texas Shootout qualifications who are registered for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, in the combined senior and junior divisions, will advance to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Archery. 

For those archers advancing to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, their qualification scores from the Texas Shootout will be counted toward their point totals for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. The Athlete Selection Procedures for the 2016 Olympic Games contain complete information on how point totals will be calculated.

All compound archers, and cadet recurve archers, will participate in a 72-arrow qualification and an elimination round for the Texas Shootout. Senior and junior Recurve archers will participate in a 144 - arrow qualification round only.
