USA Archery Introduces Regional Elite Development (RED) Program

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery is proud to introduce the Regional Elite Development (RED) ProgramThe mission of the RED Program is to develop recurve athletes, through the USA Archery athlete competencies and High-Performance Ethos, who are competitive nationally and internationally. RED athletes are expected to take a professional approach to their training and to work with the RED Program Coaches to set goals for proficient training.

 

RED, which will replace the recurve Junior Dream Team and Regional Dream Team programs, consists of 12 select promising male and female archers aged 13-17 per gender in each of six regions of the U.S. 

 

USA Archery will begin accepting application for the RED Program following the final United States Archery Team (USAT) event of the calendar year. Priority will be given to individuals appointed to the Cadet USAT for the following year. Individuals who do not make Cadet USAT but are committed to a program of preparation to make a future USAT and desire to represent the United States on future international teams are encouraged to apply to the RED Program.

 

RED Program Overview

 

The program will consist of six teams throughout the United States, divided into the following regions: East, Southeast, South, North, West, Southwest.

 

RED Team East - ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI, NY, PA, NJ, DE, MD, WV, VA

 

RED Team Southeast - KY, NC, SC, TN, MS, AL, GA, FL 

 

RED Team South - TX, OK, AR, LA 

 

RED Team North - ND, SD, MN, NE, IA, WI, IL, KS, MO, IN, MI, OH

 

RED Team West MT, WY, UT, CO, NM, ID, WA, OR 

 

RED Team Southwest - NV, CA, AZ, HI, AK

 

Each regional team will host 2-4 camps per year to develop high performing athletes for the sport. All camps will be 3-4 days long.

 

The RED Program Coaches will coach, teach and lead in accordance with USA Archery's Code of ConductHigh Performance Ethos and guidelines from the U.S. Center for SafeSport and USADA. RED coaches will teach athletes in a manner consistent with the direction and philosophies set forth in the USA Archery Regional Elite Development Curriculum.

 

The RED Program is designed to develop personal coaches as well as athletes. Personal coaches will be encouraged to work as a team with the RED coaches to develop their athlete together.
