USA Archery Awards Spring 2018 JOAD Grants

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery is proud to present the first recipients of the 2018 Ann Hoyt/Jim Easton JOAD Grant. Thanks to the generous donations of the Ann Hoyt Legacy Fund and the Easton Foundations, USA Archery JOAD Clubs in good standing can request up to $2,000 in grant funds for items such as target stands, archery equipment, general supplies and coaching certifications. The purpose of the grant is to foster long-term equipment usage and club development.

Congratulations to the following clubs who were awarded grant funds:

  • Central Cascades JOAD: Bend, OR
  • CMC Archery: Lynwood, WA
  • Full Quiver 4-H: Sedro Woolley, WA
  • Li'l Abner Foundation Archery: Miami, FL
  • North Side Archery Club: Chicago, IL
  • TOC Archery-Town of Cary: Cary, NC
  • Wilcox JOAD Archery Club: Yorktown, VA

Andrew Marsden of the Town of Cary used funds to purchase target mats, expand their outdoor range and add several new Olympic ILF bows to their club equipment. Marsden commented, "The grant has had an immediate effect on our ability to offer archery programming at a higher level. The new target mats opened additional lanes on our range allowing us to take more shooters into our class. They are also able to accommodate higher poundage bows which allowed a couple of archers to bring their compound bows to train. The ILF bows allowed two people to join JOAD, who currently do not have their own equipment, without a large upfront investment."

Town of Cary also hosts regular Virtual Tournaments and is now able to make targets and bows available to members to compete. "Because of the demand we have experienced, we have doubled our Intro to Archery Classes and have expand our Archery club to two nights," added Marsden. "Our next step is to identify an appropriate space for a designated full time range."

JOAD Grant applications are accepted and reviewed in April and August of each year. The final round of 2018 Ann Hoyt/Jim Easton JOAD Grant applications are due August 19, 2018. To access rules of the grant and the application form, please click here.
