USA Archery Announces New Staff Members

Colorado Springs, CO - USA Archery has announced the hiring of three new full-time staff members, and one part-time staff member.

Katrina Weiss will work as the organization's National Events Manager, out of the organization's national office in Colorado Springs. Weiss, formerly of Seegrid Corp., has several years of experience in project management and operations coordination, and a Master of Sports Leadership from Northeastern University. Additionally, Weiss has worked extensively in sports management, at the Center for Sport in Society and with JMU Athletics, as well as assisting with the National Indoor Championships in Andover, Mass., serving as Tournament Director for the 2010 Nor'Easter, and working with the USA Archery Scoring Team. 

A three-time All-American, Weiss will manage all aspects of USA Archery's events, including event scheduling, sanctioning, judge coordination, overseeing bidding and contracting, and national and world records. "I love archery and am passionate about sport, which I believe can be a great tool for many things," explains Weiss. "I'm eager to see the sport of archery develop and grow, and am excited to be part of that growth."

As Outreach Manager, Darin Erskine will lead USA Archery's outreach efforts from its Newberry, Fla. location, including coordination, communication and product sales to camps, 4-H, Park and Recreation programs, Boy Scouts, state agencies and entry level coaches. Erskine will also oversee the Basic, Intermediate and Community Coach certification courses, and will work with the Coach Development Manager and National Head Coach to create appropriate curriculum, training and program support material.

Formerly the National Programs Coordinator for the National Alliance for the Development of Archery, Erskine is a graduate of Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Fla., and has been a certified archery instructor for over three years, teaching beginner archery classes and organizing and operating local archery tournaments. Erskine states: "I'm excited to build on my experience with the sport of archery, particularly in the areas of facilitating instructor certification and program growth."

Peggy Butler will work as the Outreach Assistant in USA Archery's Newberry office, providing administrative support in coordination, communication and product sales to outreach groups. She will additionally provide administrative support to coach certification efforts.  Butler, an Intermediate Archery Instructor, previously had extensive experience in a similar role with the National Alliance for the Development of Archery, working first as a Fulfillment Coordinator and then as a Registration Coordinator. Joseph Garrett will also be working on a part-time basis for USA Archery, as the organization's Fulfillment Coordinator, in which he will oversee order assembly, shipping and inventory tracking.
