Outreach Team Hits Tradeshows to Market USA Archery Programs

Members of USA Archery's Outreach team have been hitting the road since January, promoting the sport of archery as an option for camps, park and recreation departments, and other community-based organizations.

Since January, USA Archery has travelled to the Archery Trade Association Trade Show, the American Camp Association conference, and The Vegas Shoot. At each event, the goal has been to educate attendees on USA Archery program offerings, including the brand new Explore Archery program.

Archery Trade Association Trade Show: January 6-8, 2014

The ATA Trade Show is the archery and bowhunting industry's largest show. The ATA Trade Show is a member-driven event designed to promote commerce within the archery and bowhunting industry. Owned and operated by the ATA, this show boasted thousands of individual retail shop owners in attendance, a target market for USA Archery programs.

USA Archery offered an interactive seminar at the ATA Trade Show this year. Attendees were eager to learn about the new Explore Archery program as well as instructor certification and next-step opportunities like Junior Olympic Archery Development and the Adult Archery Program. The seminar focused on introducing the new Explore Archery program where attendees had an opportunity to volunteer and demonstrate actual activities from the program.

American Camp Association Conference: February 6- 8, 2014

This national meeting offers the opportunity to interact and communicate with camp directors from across the United States. For this event, USA Archery partnered with the Easton Foundations on booth space, introducing programming and certification opportunities, as well as archery range development and grant information, to camp directors.

With approximately 1000 attendees, the ACA Conference was a great opportunity to speak directly to people making decisions regarding camp programming. USA Archery also offered a seminar at this event, speaking with 25 camp directors in a smaller setting about the specifics of the new Explore Archery program.

The Vegas Shoot: February 7 - 9, 2014

The Vegas Shoot, one of the world's largest and most prestigious indoor archery tournaments, attracts archers from across the globe. Over 2000 competitors, from beginners to advanced tournament shooters, were on hand to shoot shoulder to shoulder with Olympic and Paralympic medalists as well as World Champions.

USA Archery had an informational booth at this event, and saw lots of interest in official merchandise, as well as talking to instructors, archers and families who were eager to learn about archery opportunities. USA Archery's Outreach staff also conducted an open forum where attendees received an organizational update and had the opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns and voice suggestions.

Up next for USA Archery: an appearance at the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) National Championships in May, where USA Archery will focus on next-step archery programs available to NASP archers and instructors.
