Important Reminder for Instructors, Coaches and Clubs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - With the end of the year rapidly approaching, USA Archery is offering instructors, coaches and club leaders assistance in meeting membership and certification requirements that go into effect on January 1, 2015.

"These guidelines have been developed to ensure a safe and healthy environment and a consistent club experience," notes Denise Parker, USA Archery CEO. "Compliance is critical to fostering a positive experience for athletes, coaches and volunteers."

Instructors and Coaches

Pursuant to USA Archery's June 2013 announcement, SafeSport compliance and background screening have been identified as high priority initiatives in order to foster a healthy, supportive environment for all archery participants.

As of December 31, 2014, all current Level 2 and above USA Archery certified instructors and coaches MUST:

  • Complete SafeSport online training. Click here for SafeSport
  • Have a successful background screen on file with USA Archery. Click here for background screening.
  • Have a current membership to USA Archery, the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) or the Archery Shooters Association (ASA). Click here to join USA Archery, the NFAA or the ASA

The above requirements are applicable to all instructors/coaches who hold a Level 2, Level 3, Level 3-NTS, Level 4, Level 4-NTS or Level 5-NTS certification.

If you have any questions or concerns about your certification status or need help in obtaining any of the necessary requirements, please contact USA Archery Certification Coordinator Jo Chouinard at: [email protected] or by phone at 719-866-3451

Judges

Also, as a reminder to all USA Archery certified Judges: a USA Archery membership, background screen, and Safe Sport training will be required starting in 2015.

If you have any questions or concerns about your certification status or need help in obtaining any of the necessary requirements, please contact USA Archery Officials Coordinator Sheri Rhodes at: [email protected] or by phone at 719-866-3450

JOAD, Collegiate Archery Program, and Adult Archery Program Clubs

All USA Archery clubs must select a currently certified Level 2, or higher, instructor/coach that is a member of USA Archery, to be designated as the club's head coach by December 31st.

As a reminder, clubs must have at least three members - who are current members of USA Archery - affiliated with the club, to meet the minimum club standard.  Archers who are club members should designate their primary club affiliation by logging into their membership services account here.

If you have any questions or concerns about your club status or need help, please contact Outreach Program Coordinator Jon Taylor at: [email protected] or by phone at 719-866-3461.
