2009 JOAD Outdoor National Championships a Success

Middletown Archery and JOAD Club

Downingtown, PA - July 2 - 5, 2009

Downingtown, PA is located about 30 minutes from Philadelphia, the birth place of America.  What a perfect place to spend a long weekend that was full of archery and fireworks.

To start the weekend off, Rob Kaufhold of Lancaster Archery Supply hosted a wonderful BBQ. The athlete's and their families were treated to some great food, games and camaraderie.

The JOAD Championship started early Friday morning with the compound divisions. The Recurve divisions would have the afternoon session on Friday.  The weather proved to be a little tricky for both sessions as the athlete's had considerable amount of wind to tend with on the grounds of the United States Training Center. Friday closed with a spectacular firework show that was hosted by the USTC. Saturday brought the same conditions as Friday - decent temperatures, but windy conditions.

All of the divisions shot a two day FITA with the Cub, Cadet and Junior divisions shooting an OR round on Sunday and the Bowman class shot a Wand Shoot on Sunday.

Thank you to Cindy Bevilacqua and the Middletown Archery and JOAD Club, all the judges, volunteers, vendors, and the athlete's and their families that attended the 2009 JOAD Championships. We look forward to seeing everyone at the 2010 JOAD National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa - June 24- 27, 2010.
