YANKTON, S.D. – Just as the last arrows were landing at the World Archery Field Championships in Yankton, the first of the archers were arriving for the World Archery 3D Championships.
Official practice takes place on Monday before competition begins on Tuesday morning. The 2026 World Archery 3D Championships run through until Saturday and the USA has a tournament-high 24 archers competing. Team trials for the U.S. were held in Yankton in early June.
In all, there are 246 archers from 24 countries taking part. The USA team includes Shiloh Butts, a team medalist in both 2022 and 2024. Jayme Buchanan and Julie Jones also return. Buchanan won bronze in two team events and Jones the one when the competition was held in Mokrice, Slovenia two years ago.
There will be a number of archers staying on from the World Archery Field Championships. Among them is history-maker Erin Hollom. Hollom was part of the trio, that also included Casey Kaufhold and Paige Pearce, to be the first to win women’s team gold for the USA at the World Field Championships.
As well as Hollom, others extending their stay in Yankton are team gold and silver medalist, Chloe Crandall, along with Grady Kane – the silver medalist in compound U21 men – and Ava Jones.
Crandall, Kane and Ava Jones are just a few of the teenage talent making their World 3D debut. Others include Jewell Blakey and Gracelyn Sinclair.
Joella Bates will be making her fifth appearance at the World Archery 3D Championships, while Stephanie Correa will be featuring at a third World 3D. Michael Davenport, Cody Hasson (pictured above), Jeremiah Jones and Julie Jones all return, having made their debut in Slovenia two years ago. Others with previous World 3D experience include Jon Starks, Kim Timberlake and James Todd.
There will be a husband-and-wife pairing sporting the colors of the USA, with Julie Jones joined by husband Daniel in the traditional division.
Lancaster Archery Foundation is kindly offering a $500 stipend to those who qualified for the World Archery 3D Championships.
