Mount Marty College's Coach Jamie-Sambrano Named Collegiate National Coach of the Year

DUBLIN, Ohio – Coach Josahan Jaime-Sambrano of Mount Marty College was named the 2019 National Collegiate Coach of the Year at last night’s U.S. National Outdoor Collegiate Championships Awards Banquet. This honor is voted upon by collegiate programs across the country from the pool of Regional Coaches of the Year including Andy Puckett (James Madison University), Bryan Lund (Cal State Long Beach) and Cody Kirby (Union College).

Jamie-Sambrano was recognized at the 2019 U.S. National Outdoor Collegiate Championships awards banquet for her dedicated efforts to grow the sport of archery at the college level where she gave a heartwarming speech about the sacrifices collegiate coaches make because they love and believe in their archers.

Coach Jos is a 3-time All American who competed for Texas A&M University, who now leads the Mount Marty College Varsity Team, as well as the University of South Dakota Archery Club and is the Programs Director and Coach at the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center.

Coach Josahan’s student-athletes have seen tremendous successes this year in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, within collegiate archery and the larger archery community, and she has led them to personal growth with coach certifications and by fostering a strong team atmosphere.

In nominating Coach Jos for the Coach of the Year awards, her archers shared: “One of the advantages and privileges of participating in Collegiate Archery is being part of a team. Coach Jos’ team trains together and plays together. She emphasizes the team aspect and develops comradery, not just at practices and weekly meetings, but by cooking and hosting team family style meals at her home on a regular basis.”

They added: “While the success of the team is obviously demonstrated by their impressive achievements in tournament play, to Coach Jos, the most important measure of success of her Collegiate Team is the way they’ve matured individually, become community leaders and grown together as a family.”
