D’Amour chases big leap in the rankings as the Indoor World Series lands in Mexico

MERIDA, Mexico - Nicholas D’Amour could move up to second spot in the rankings with victory in Merida this weekend as the Indoor World Series moves to Mexico for Stage 6.

The recurve archer currently sits ninth with 320 points but with 500 points going to the winner, that would catapult him beyond Marcus D’Almeida (625) but behind Andres Temino Mediel (1000), the gold medalist in Nimes last month. And with Temino Mediel not attending The Vegas Shoot, a win for D’Amour would set him up nicely for the Indoor World Series finale in Nevada next month.

D’Amour took fifth in Nimes, which was his best finish from the four stages he has attended. He is one of only two archers inside the men’s top 10 competing in the coastal city of Merida, with the other being Willem Bakker (NED). Bakker sits fifth on 475 points.

Among the USA contingent heading to Mexico will be former women’s world number one Alexis Ruiz in the compound division, as well as Olympian Catalina GNoriega and 2023 Pan American Games gold medalist Jackson Mirich in recurve. All three are making their first appearance in this year’s Indoor World Series.

In all, there will be 10 archers representing the USA this weekend, including those at U18 and U21 level.

The final event in the 2026 Indoor Archery World Series is The Vegas Shoot which is March 26-29.
