SHANGHAI, China – Carson Krahe is one of a number of USA archers heading from the Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 2 in China to the 2025 HotelPlanner USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals, and she is doing so with a silver medal to her name.

The Collegiate Target Nationals begin with official practice and opening ceremony on Thursday, which comes just days after Krahe claimed her first individual medal at an Archery World Cup.

Sporting international colors, Krahe was ranked 20th after qualification in compound women after shooting 696 in China’s largest city. The 20-year-old from Virginia received a bye in the 1/32 elimination round, before facing archers who were ranked higher in Aditi Gopichand Swami (IND) and Sooin Sim (KOR), the 13th and fourth seeds respectively.

Krahe stepped up, defeating Swami 140-129 and Sooin 142-140. A quarterfinal win over Saritha Cham Nong (MAS) set up a last four contest with ninth seed I-Jou Hwang (TPE). Krahe produced her best display to reach the gold medal match with a score of 145 in toppling Hwang.

The Texas A&M student-athlete missed out on gold by the narrowest of margins, losing 139-138 to Madhura Dhamangaonkar (IND), who was seeded three.

Krahe’s was the second medal won at the Archery World Cup Stage 2, with the recurve men’s team of Brady Ellison, Christian Stoddard and Jack Williams taking bronze. This was a first recurve men's team medal at a World Cup since Ellison, Williams and Matt Requa took silver in Paris in 2022.

Ellison was the best-placed archer in recurve men, finishing fifth. Casey Kaufhold took sixth in recurve women. Krahe and Jesse Clayton were fifth in compound mixed team.

Next up for Krahe is the Collegiate Target Nationals, which take place in Lansing, Mich. She took silver in compound college women 12 months ago, behind Madison Cox representing the University of the Cumberlands. Krahe was a compound mixed team gold medalist in 2023, alongside Sawyer Sullivan.

Sawyer Sullivan is another who will be in Lansing this week after competing on the international stage in China. Others switching country for college colors will be Isaac Sullivan, Landyn Cox (both University of the Cumberlands), Trenton Cowles and Catalina GNoriega (both Texas A&M).
