Two young archers fought their way into the top 10 of the 57th USA Archery Indoor Nationals rankings over the weekend, while there were changes among the medal positions of JOAD Indoor Nationals.
One final round of competition remains before national champions are crowned, with Michigan, Mississippi and Virginia hosting across next weekend.
Grace Joung and Taylor Cho – both competing in Fiskdale, Ma. – shot the same score of 1147 in the recurve U18 women’s category. This proved enough for third and fourth in the overall national rankings, behind Olympians Casey Kaufhold (1172) and Catalina GNoriega (1162). Joung finished ahead of Cho on the tiebreak of having hit more 10s.
In recurve men, Jack Williams (library picture above) slid into the silver medal position with his score of 1180 in Chula Vista, Calif. Williams was level with leader Brady Ellison heading into his fourth and final round.
In the compound division, Dewey Hathaway scored 1192 in Fiskdale that now sees him settled in fourth overall, one point and one place better off than Caleb Quiocho, who was in action in Chula Vista these past few days in compound U21 men.
Barebow men saw one change among the top 10, as Jeffrey Daniels took seventh place with 1077 in Fiskdale.
There was a little more movement in barebow women. Erin Hollom came within three points of current gold medalist Ava Jones with her score of 1084 in Rockford, Mn. Medina Otajagic (1054) occupies the bronze position after her performance in Massachusetts, while Desneiges Gdalman sits seventh with 1012 in Wheaton, Ill., and Melanie Duarte lies 10th following 1004 in Fiskdale, also.
There will not be a USA Archery Indoor Nationals Final in 2026, but rather prize money will be distributed based on the final combined results from all Indoor Nationals locations for each gender and division (bow type). Previously, prize money has been for those in the top six. For 2026, there will be prize money for the top 10.
There were changes among the medalists in the JOAD Indoor Nationals, notably in recurve U21 men where Jacob Lanahan (578) replaced Chanyoung Mun (577) as the new leader, and Grace Joung (581) took over at the top in recurve U18 women, overtaking long-time front-runner Camryn St. Clair (575).
In recurve U15 men, two new names now sit in the gold and silver medal positions. Jaden Phan leads the way after shooting 587 in Fiskdale on Friday, with Ethan Chong – at the same indoor range – hitting 578. Elsewhere, Allison Huang claimed the bronze medal spot in recurve U15 women with a score of 576 in Chula Vista.
There are also positional changes in recurve U13. Ethan Tang is the new name in third in the men’s division, with Iris Lee now enjoying a considerable advantage in U13 women following a score of 571 – some 23 points ahead of second-placed Ryley Sheu, the previous leader.
Caleb Quiocho is the new leader in compound U21 men, Miranda Meighen sits top by two points in compound U15 women, while there are new names occupying the gold and bronze positions in compound U13 men. Wanli Chen is 24 points clear with a fine display in Rockford, with Grant Gibson sitting third.
Medina Otajagic and Angela Sang are now first and third in barebow U18 women, Brantley Lachecki has taken over the silver spot in barebow U15 men, while Anna Li is the new leader in barebow U13 women.
There was also a shuffling of the pack within the fixed pins division. Isaac Mayer lies third in U21 men, Jack Moorhouse now leads the standings in U18 men – just one point clear of Benjamin Corey and Eli Lien, with Rebecca Dillow taking over second place in U18 women.
Strong scores emerged in fixed pins U15 women, as Georgia Glitsos and Chloe Lee both finished on 546, which was good enough for second and third respectively.
