The start of Paralympic Trials Qualification shares the stage with Arizona Cup

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona Cup, the first USAT Qualifier Series Event of 2024 gets going at the Ben Avery Archery Range on Thursday, and so too does Stage #1 Paralympic Trials Qualification Event.

Unlike the Olympic Trials Qualification Event, which consists of six stages, the Paralympic push for Paris is made up of three stages. The remaining two will be during and after next month's Gator Cup in Newberry, Fla.

Archery at the Paralympics will see medals won in men’s individual W1, men’s individual compound open, men’s individual recurve open, women’s individual W1, women’s individual compound open, women’s individual recurve open, mixed team W1, mixed team compound and mixed team recurve.

Each country can win a maximum of two quota places in each category for the 2024 Paralympic Games. The USA has acquired five quota slots. They have the maximum two slots in both the recurve men open and compound men open, as well as one slot in the W1 women.

The 2024 Paralympic Trials Qualification and Trials events will be comprised of three stages:

  • Stage #1 Paralympic Trials Qualification Event will be held with the 2024 USAT Event # 1 (Arizona Cup).
  • Stage #2 Paralympic Trials Qualification Event will be held with the 2024 USAT Event # 2 (Gator Cup). Following Stage #2 there will be a cut to the top eight.
  • Stage #3 Paralympic Trials will be a stand-alone event following the 2024 USAT Event # 2 (Gator Cup).

The 2024 Paralympic Games Athlete Selection Procedures explain in detail the rounds that will be competed in each stage of the U.S. Team trials and how cumulative points will be awarded.

Latest scores and results from Stage #1 Paralympic Trials Qualification Event can be found on Between Ends. There will also be photos of Stage #1, plus action images from Arizona Cup.
