USA Archery Launches Adult Archery Achievement Program

Five-time Olympian Butch Johnson made his first Olympic Team at the age of 36, a little-known statistic that speaks to the potential for the success of adults in the sport of archery. Noting the need for a developmental program for adults, USA Archery has launched Adult Archery Achievement, designed to provide instruction and achievement opportunities to senior and master's division archers.

Adult Archery Achievement programs will be hosted by a broad range of facilities that includes pro shops, ranges and club. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for these facilities to teach the proper shooting techniques, achieve awards based upon scores and pursue competitions. All programs will offer archery classes that will be taught by a certified USA Archery coach. Similar in scope to USA Archery's Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program, Adult Archery Achievement is a logical progression for adult archers pursuing this lifetime sport. The program is open for all adult students, from those who have just shot their first arrows, to those who compete at the highest levels.

"We're thrilled to launch this important program," said Denise Parker, USA Archery CEO. "We really saw a need for more adult programs that our clubs can use to market and support the sport in their area. In addition to providing a valuable educational and recreational component, we hope the Adult Archery Achievement program can also provide a much-needed revenue boost to archery ranges, pro shops and clubs who are able to provide this service to their customers and members."

Participating groups must be USA Archery member clubs in order to receive program materials and order achievement pins. The cost and requirements to become a USA Archery club is minimal and clubs also receive significant benefits, including insurance coverage and national event sanctioning rights.
