USA Archery Announces 2015 Coach of the Year Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - Last night at the Coach Symposium, USA Archery was pleased to present the 2015 Coach of the Year Awards. The winners of each category, in addition to USA Archery recognition will also be nominated for the U.S. Olympic Committee's National Coach of the Year Awards.

It has been an incredible season for archery in the U.S. with more archers competing in national events, reaching achievement goals, and shooting higher scores. USA Archery is grateful for our incredible coaches who work tirelessly to make this happen and we are proud to recognize several standouts.

Jerry Shuck was honored with the Volunteer Coach of the Year Award. Coach Shuck is a Level 3-NTS Coach who established a highly successful JOAD program in 2012 for Maryland's Tuscarora Archers. His archers say that his passion and love of archery inspire them to train, improve and excel. Known for putting in the time and effort to support all current and potential new archers, Coach Shuck makes the sport as accessible and fun as possible.

Coach Shuck also facilitates growth by hosting local clubs and archers, and by helping archers reach their competition goals on the local, state, and national level.  In the past year, his archers have set over 10 new state records, and three archers earned high Cadet USAT rankings, including one archer making the Cadet USAT.  Coach Shuck's dedication to the advancement of youth archery, unwavering commitment to community awareness, and efforts towards his archers' personal development highlight a lifetime devotion to the sport of archery.

Jeff Sanchez was awarded the Developmental Coach of the Year Award. Coach Sanchez is a Level 2 USA Archery certified instructor for Team BowDoc JOAD and Joliet Archery Club in Illinois. Coach Sanchez is an active, hands-on coach, who dedicates himself to the improvement of his archers and the promotion of archery as a sport.

Coach Sanchez works with four competitive archers who collectively achieved 26 1st place, 11 2nd place, and one 3rd place finish in over 50 local, state and national tournaments in 2015. Coach Sanchez's passion for coaching and helping archers achieve their goals goes above and beyond.
