High Performance Program Seeks Intern

USA Archery is accepting applications for a preferred 6 month internship, but will consider applicants needing a 3 month internship, in the High Performance Department.  This is a full-time position, based at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center, that reports to the High Performance Manager and related staff.  Job duties will include Resident Athlete on-site supervision, maintaining inventory, data entry, setting up event programming and other duties as assigned. 

The applicant will gain hands on experience in various areas of a National Governing Body/USA Archery, including educational opportunities from professionals in the field of Sports Administration.

For this position, an undergraduate position in Management/Sports and Recreation with the third/junior year completed is required, Masters preferred and some collegiate athletic experience.  You must be in a recognized educational program where an internship is required for the successful completion of your degree or certificate.  Credit will be given upon the completion of this internship.

Anticipated start date:          June 6 or June 13

Salary:  Academic Credit, Room and full board provided

Qualifications:
Required: Working on Bachelor's Degree junior/third year completed, preferably in Sports/Business Management; Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated supervisory experience working in an athletic department ; proficiency with personal computer applications (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc.); communication skills; ability to follow direction and to manage multiple projects simultaneously; detail-oriented; flexibility to intersperse simple tasks with important administrative responsibilities; ability to reside in Chula Vista, California at Olympic Training Center; ability to lift 50 pounds; clean driving record.

Job Description:

  • Reports directly to the High Performance Manager
  • Resident Athlete (RA) on-site supervision
  • Assist with day to day operation of athletic facilities
  • Various scoring/results related duties as assigned; including prior technical setup, field setup 
  • Data entry using computer spreadsheet and database programs
  • Assist in uniform inventory management
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Requires evening and weekend hours
