NOVE MESTO, Czech Republic - A total of 132 athletes competed at the Para-Archery World Ranking Tournament here from June 23-20, according to the International Paralympic Committee.

In the men's outdoor compound open 50m round, Italy's Alberto Simonelli beat the USA's Paralympic silver medallist Matt Stutzman by one point with a score of 141, while American teammate Jeff Sena clinched the bronze.

Great Britain's Mel Clarke took the victory in the women's event with the same score line, ahead of Russia's Olga Polegaeva and Karina Granitza.

In the men's outdoor recurve open 70m, Russia's Bato Tsydendorzhiev took a commanding six end victory over American Timothy Palumbo. Michael Lukow earned yet another medal - a bronze - for Team USA.

And in the women's event, it was Korea's Hwa Sook Lee who claimed first place against Russia's Margarita Sidorenko in a closely fought contest, with Ukraine's Roksolana Dzoba-Balyan in third.

In the team events, Italy claimed victory ahead of Sweden and Canada in the compound open mixed team event.

Slovakia held off close competition from silver medalists USA in men's compound open 50m, with Russia doing the same against Germany in the women's.

And in the recurve mixed team, Germany fended off the USA, who earned their sixth medal of this highly competitive event, with Great Britain coming in third.

The event - considered the most competitive in the world for para archers outside of the World Archery Para Championships - gave fans a Rio 2016 preview that puts the American squad in serious contention for medals.

Team USA had major success at London 2012, with Stutzman and Jeff Fabry bringing home silver and gold medals, respectively - but the team's performance in Nove Mesto shows that Americans are capable of pulling off wins in multiple divisions, ensuring solid positioning for the upcoming World Archery Para Championships and Paralympic Games.
