2026 Virginia State JOAD Outdoor Championship

Welcome to the 2026 Virginia State JOAD Outdoor Championship!

SpiderShotz, LLC is proud to host the 2026 Virginia State JOAD Championship at the St Gertrude's Athletic Center in Henrico VA on Jun 13, 2026.

This is a one-day, 72-arrow round (12 shooting ends of six arrows each end) with two practice ends at the beginning of each shooting session. 

All archers will shoot at their JOAD competition distance (see below).

We will have a maximum of 80 archers. 

Practice ends will begin at 9:00 AM

Archers who shoot Recurve or Barebow will shoot a 122cm target face at their assigned JOAD competition distance. 

Archers who shoot Compound or Fixed Pins will shoot an 80cm 6-ring target face.

- Compound outer 10-ring will be in effect. 

- Recurve outer 10-ring will be in effect. 

Age Classes:

We will host a "Novice" division for Recurve and Barebow archers of any age (8 to 20) who wish to experience an outdoor archery competition for the first time, at a target distance of 30 meters. All Novice archers will shoot a 122-cm target face. 

Participants may compete as a "Yeoman" through the calendar year of their 9th birthday.

Participants may compete as a “U13” through the calendar year of their 12th birthday

Participants may compete as a “U15” through the calendar year of their 14th birthday

Participants may compete as a “U18” through the calendar year of their 17th birthday

Participants may compete as a “U21” through the calendar year of their 20th birthday

 JOAD Competition Distances:

*A “Barebow” by definition is a Recurve bow without a sight or other accessories.

*All Compound archers will shoot on their own individual target face using the 80-centimeter multicolor 6-ring target face that scores out to the 5-ring.

All archers will report for equipment inspections no later than 8:30am. . 

As soon as equipment inspections are completed we will hold two practice ends followed by a 72-arrow ranking round. 

Please plan to arrive at least 45 minutes early to set up equipment and complete check-in and equipment inspection before we begin the tournament. 

We will hold the awards ceremony shortly after the shooting session ends. If you win an award and cannot be present to receive it, please make arrangements to pick it up or have another person receive on your behalf.

In order to receive Resident awards, you must be either a Virginia resident or a resident of the District of Columbia AND a member of a Virginia-based archery club.

Non-residents (except as noted above) may qualify for Guest awards. 

Archers who shoot in the Novice category may also qualify for awards. 

Early Bird Registration Fee: $50 until  May 25, 2026

Late Registration Fee: $65 from 5/25/2026 until 6/8/2026

Last Day to Book: June 8, 2026 at 11:00pm ET

Archers may set up canopies in the designated archers' area away from the waiting line. Spectators may set up canopies in the spectator area behind the archers' area. All canopies must be staked to the ground or weighted. There will be canopies set up and available for archers to use. Some seating will be provided but all archers and spectators are asked to bring their own chairs, if possible. 

If you need to cancel your registration, you may receive a full refund minus transaction fees if we receive your cancellation e-mail no later than June 8, 2026. If you cancel after June 8, we cannot provide a refund. 

The Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) will be in effect for the duration of this tournament
