Level 2 Practical Instructor Course--Ed McKinney

The Level 2 Practical Course will be held in the George Bush Fitness Center on the campus of Georgetown College. The course leader is Ed McKinney, a level 4 NTS coach and head coach of Georgetown College Archery Team. Coach McKinney has coached NASP, JOAD, and now at the collegiate level. He was one of the first coaches in Kentucky to introduce the NTS shot process to his NASP archers. 

Archers may bring their own bows, however, compound bows must be adjusted to 50# or less. Recurve bows will be provided to all who wish to use them.

The Level 2 Instructor Course graduates will be familiar with:

  • Range set up and safety
  • Basic equipment maintenance, repair, and distribution
  • Teaching the first archery class and try archery
  • NTS steps of the shot cycle - recurve and compound
  • Basic coaching techniques
  • Outfitting an archer with equipment & accessories
  • Advanced coaching techniques
  • How to teach an archery class

Prerequisites:  Consult the USA Archery website under "Find a Course" for information regarding prerequisites.

  • Complete the Level 2 Online Course
  • Be a member of USA Archery
  • Complete a background check
  • Complete the online Safe Sport course
  • Must be 18 years old or older

The cost of the Level 2 practical course is $190.
