LHC USA Archery Pratical

Those wishing to run Troop and Venture Unit archery activities and to become an approved Archery Merit Badge Counselor will need to complete the USA Archery Level I Instructor Certification or above. This class is for registered Scouters.

 

First, there is a new course format for USA Archery. The participant must register with USA Archery and successfully complete the on-line Level I class The class is $40 payable to USA Archery. See

Second, once the participant has completed the on-line Level I class, they will then be able to and must  register on the USA Archery web site for a Practical Course sanctioned and conducted by a Level II Trainer. The Practical Course involves applying what has been learned in the on-line class on a range. Registering for the Practical Couse allows the Level II Trainer to conduct the class for the person, administer the written exam, and complete paperwork on-line allowing immediate certification upon successful completion. USA Archery does not charge for this section.

 

Practical classes are conducted locally by Level II Trainers so there will be a fee that is paid to the Level II Trainer or facility. Those seeking to complete the USA Archery Certification through the Longhorn Council will also need to register for the Practical class through the LHC training page. The cost is $35.

 

The Practical Class is Nov. 6, 2021 Worth Ranch. The class will start at 8:30 am at the Archery Range. The Practical class is a busy, hands-on 3.5 hours. We will break for a short lunch and continue with BSA Shooting Sports policy, LHC Archery Policy, and how to conduct the Archery Merit Badge including arrow making and string making. This will take an additional 2 hours.
