DUBLIN, Ohio – A number of the archers heading to Canada for the World Archery Youth Championships and Korea for the World Archery Para Championships were among the medals at the 2025 Rebel Gear Buckeye Classic, which is the final event in the USAT Qualifier Series.
Caleb Quiocho will travel to Winnipeg next month in confident mood as he collected his third compound U18 gold and fourth medal from the four USAT competitions – the others being Arizona Cup, Gator Cup and SoCal Showdown.
In the same division, Brody Wonch – another set for the World Youth Championships – took his second silver of the USAT qualifiers. He won gold at Arizona Cup, with Quiocho taking silver.
Hailey Franzone, who will be part of the recurve U18 women’s team in Canada, finished with bronze at Buckeye. Franzone also won bronze at Gator Cup.
Three archers made it back-to-back USAT Qualifier Series gold medals across the U18 and U21 categories. They were Lanie Nish (compound U21 women), Gabriel Urgelles (barebow U18 men) and Hunter Kizerian (fixed pins U21 men).
Sibling success came in the form of gold and bronze to Taylor and Kali Miller in compound U18 women. Taylor previously picked up bronze at Arizona Cup in April.
Delana Puryear finished the series with three medals in fixed pins U18 women, one silver and two bronze. Chase Manor won gold in fixed pins U18 men, to go with the silver he won at Gator Cup. Isaac Mayer – who denied Manor gold in Florida – took bronze, having been beaten by Manor in the semifinals.
In recurve U21 women, Elizabeth Ahn denied Eliana Son gold. Son was previously on the podium at Gator Cup (silver) and SoCal Showdown (bronze).
Keegan Benton won his second gold of the year in the USAT series, repeating the feat achieved at Gator Cup in barebow U21 men. Charles Shea took silver in Ohio, to go with the gold struck last month at SoCal Showdown.
There was gold for Abigail Sparpaglione in barebow U21 women, adding to the silver she seized at Gator Cup.
Other archers adding to their 2025 USAT Qualifier Series medal haul included Ethan Chan and Nicholas Kim - who took gold and silver in recurve U18 men at the Buckeye Classic – Ashvika Singh (recurve U18 women), Lilie Aguilar (compound U21 women), Pranav Sanjay (barebow U18 men), Grace Fu, Harley Montgomery (both U18 women), Joshua Kiper (fixed pins U21 men), Piper Colantone (fixed pins U21 women), Nathan Jackson, Sergio Garcia and Eli Bartron (all compound U21 men).
Earlier in the day Paralympians were among the gold medal winners at the Buckeye Classic. Jordan White took recurve open men by 23 points from Timothy Palumbo.
KJ Polish had an outstanding first half, posting 355 points out of a possible 360 in compound open men. He finished with 699, which was 29 points clear of the field.
Elsewhere, Catalina Bustamante (compound open women), Ryan Lindstrom (W1 open) and Karen Sternfeld (recurve open women) were other gold medal winners on Saturday. White, Polish, Sternfeld and Bustamante will all be on the USA team for the World Archery Para Championships in Korea in September.
The 2025 Rebel Gear Buckeye Classic concludes on Sunday with the senior and 50+ eliminations. The senior gold medal matches will be broadcast live from 2pm ET on USA Archery’s YouTube channel (though this is dependent on the weather and subject to change).
