NANJING, China – The draw has been made for the 2025 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final, which runs through the weekend and includes Brady Ellison, Casey Kaufhold and Alexis Ruiz from the USA.
This is the 19th edition of the World Cup Final and involves the top eight men and top eight women across both compound and recurve.
Athletes qualified either by winning a World Cup stage or by gaining enough ranking points with high finishes. There were four stages this year, held in Florida, China, Turkey and Spain.
Ellison is back on a stage he knows well. Since making his debut in 2010, the world number two has only missed this event once, and that was in 2024. He triumphed on his first appearance 15 years ago and has since won a total of five times, the last coming in 2019. Seeded number five, Ellison begins against Wenchao Kao from the host nation China in recurve men.
Casey Kaufhold is the number four seed in recurve women and she has been drawn against eighth seed Penny Healey (GBR). Kaufhold took bronze at World Cup Stage 3 in Turkey and came fourth at Stage 1 in Florida, where Healey took gold.
Alexis Ruiz will be the first of the USA athletes in action when she tackles Jyothi Surekha Vennam (IND) in compound women. Ruiz won bronze in Turkey and finished fifth in Florida. There will be a new World Cup Final winner in this division as Sara Lopez (COL) – champion at nine of the last 10 editions – did not qualify this year.
The format of the competition is a bracket, starting from the quarterfinals. Compound archers will be first up (Friday evening U.S. time), followed a day later by recurve.
