CHICAGO, Ill. – The USA finished day two of the 2023 Chicago Para-Archery Championship with a haul of three gold, one silver and three bronze medals in the team events.
Compound swept the board, claiming gold in the men’s and women’s open doubles, as well as the open mixed team. Andre Shelby and Wendy Gardner both bagged two gold medals apiece.
The silver medal went to the men’s W1 doubles team of Jason Tabansky and Lucas Herro, with bronze medals claimed in the men’s and women’s recurve open doubles, plus the recurve open mixed team.
Kevin Mather and Michael Lukow made up the recurve men open team, Candice Caesar and Karen Sternfeld competed in the recurve women open, with Mather and Caesar representing the USA in the recurve open mixed team.
Competition concludes on Sunday. Among the highlights is Tabansky and Tracy Otto going for gold in the W1 mixed team exhibition, facing Korea. Otto then returns in the final of the women’s W1 open, tackling Kim Ok Geum (KOR).
Later on Sunday afternoon, the USA is guaranteed gold and silver in the compound men open division, with Kevin Polish Jr. going up against teammate Andre Shelby.
Candice Caesar then steps up in the gold medal match for the recurve women open, when she meets Kim Ran Sook (KOR).
