Spring 2020 USA Archery Collegiate Events Season Closed

Dear Collegiate Archers and Coaches,

USA Archery wants to continue to assure you that your health, safety and well-being is our highest priority. We remain in regular contact with World Archery and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee concerning coronavirus; we are in daily briefings with the USOPC and their medical team to ensure we have the latest information. We are closely monitoring the CDC and WHO guidelines and recommendations.

We know this is a time of uncertainty in a rapidly evolving situation, and collegiate athletics programs across the country have taken strong precautions to protect student-athletes.

USA Archery sent a survey to schools to gather information on travel restrictions and bans that have been put in place and with what we have garnered so far, in addition to conversation with event organizers and a quickly changing landscape, the 2020 Collegiate Target Nationals is being cancelled.

With the cancellation of the 2020 USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals, the National Team Championship award will not be presented. The All-American Team and All-Around Archer of the Year awards will be evaluated and information on the status of those awards will be communicated in the coming days. The All-American Academic award and Coach of the Year Awards will still be awarded; information will be coming soon to gather the appropriate data/nominations.

In addition, USA Archery has communicated with each Collegiate Target Regional event host, and all Collegiate Target Regionals are cancelled (note: the Mid-South Conference Championship event is not cancelled as of today, more information will be communicated as it becomes available from the conference administration). All-Region Teams will not be awarded for 2020.

Registration fees for Collegiate Target Regionals and Collegiate Target Nationals will be reimbursed, minus service fees beyond our control. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

USA Archery CEO Rod Menzer shared personally: “While athlete safety and well-being are at the core of our priorities, as an alum of collegiate archery, I can understand just how devastating it is to lose a season of competition, especially for seniors who are graduating. Our deepest sympathies are with you all as we share this heartbreaking news; we at USA Archery share your passion for the sport and empathize with how frustrating this must be for you and your teams. We hope to see you on the field again soon and wish you all the best as you carry out the remainder of the semester.”

Thank you.
