Color, community and camaraderie combine for the 2026 Collegiate Target Nationals

LANSING, Mich. – Official practice, the opening ceremony and the cookout social have helped lay the foundations to a thrilling three days of action at the 2026 HotelPlanner USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals, hosted in partnership with Michigan State University and the Lansing Sports Commission.

There are few events on the archery calendar that compare to Collegiate Target Nationals, where competition clashes with camaraderie and community. Archers compete in barebow, compound, fixed pins and recurve. Not only is there the individual competition but we will witness team and mixed team events in the coming days, which are always colorful and full of energy.

University of the Cumberlands are the defending champions but University of Rio Grande will be eager to build on their Collegiate 3D Nationals success in Foley, Alabama last October, while we can expect threats from the usual suspects such as Texas A&M University and University of Pikeville.

Texas A&M include Catalina GNoriega, who was in Shanghai last weekend with the USA team for the Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage #2. She should be a contender in recurve college women. As will Sawyer Sullivan (Texas A&M) in compound college men. Sullivan is another to have rushed to Lansing having been in China last week. Both won their respective divisions a year ago.

The 2025 silver medalist in recurve college men, Joshua Baek (Columbia University), will be one to watch, as will Texas A&M duo Jack Krengel and last year's top seed, Venugopal Kunnavakkam.

Carson Krahe (Texas A&M) and Lanie Nish (University of the Cumberlands) should again be ones to watch in compound college women, winning gold and silver respectively 12 months ago.

Joseph West (University of the Cumberlands) returns to defend his fired pins college men's title, while Anna Rush (University of the Cumberlands) - silver medalists in 2025 - will seek to go one better this time around in fixed pins college women.

Lindsey Wilson College welcomes back Anastacia Godman (pictured) to the team for this year’s event. The junior missed the 2025 edition after being involved in a serious road traffic accident.

“The doctors didn’t think I’d still be able to do archery,” Anastacia said, before her face broke into a smile and she added, “But I’m here!”

As well as being a thrilling event, it also sure to be emotional for those for whom this is the end of their collegiate archery road. Some student-athletes have already enjoyed their graduation ceremony, while others have them in the days following Collegiate Target Nationals.

Kyle Coffey (Union Commonwealth University) is one of many to have shone within the collegiate archery program who is graduating. He will be among the favorites in barebow college men, having won two of the last three years.

You can keep up to date with the latest scores and results, while there are photos posted at the end of each session.

Competition concludes on Sunday morning with individual and mixed team gold medal matches. These will be broadcast live on USA Archery’s YouTube channel from 8am ET. But not before awards are presented on Saturday night, including All-American Team and All-Around Archers of the Year.
